10 Targets for Student Ministry
At our Destination meeting on June 6th, we set forward 10 targets or goals that we want to accomplish in the 6 years that a student is in the Student Ministry.
Below are the basic targets. The language and exact verbage is still being thought out.
1. Students will be able to identify a personal purpose for their lives. Basically this means that students will know who they are (their identity in Christ), know that God has a calling on their lives, know God's general call on their lives and begin the process of figuring out what God has called them to do.
2. Students will develop their leadership skills. First, I do not love the wording on this point but we will keep working on it. We want students to feel confident and bold in leading others. We want students to learn how to lead others. We want students to get plugged into leadership roles in life, in the Student Ministry and in the church.
3. Students will enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ. We want every student to have a personal relationship with Christ.
4. Students will develop a Biblical World-View. We want students to see everything in life through the lense of their relationship with Jesus Christ and know that everything they think or do affects that relationship.
5. Students will develop a consistent Quiet Time. We want students to develop the habit/discipline of having a time with Jesus Christ regularly. We want students to learn how to worship God, not only in public, but in their private lives as well.
6. Students will develop healthy relationships. We want students to develop healthy relationships with adults in discipleship and mentoring roles. We want students to develop healthy relationships with each other. We want students to learn how to relate with each other as Christians in a Biblical way. We want students to learn what it means to be a good Christian friend.
7. Students will learn to study the Word of God. We want students to have read through the entire Bible in their 6 years in the Student Ministry. We want students to learn how to read the Bible and apply it to their lives. We want students to memorize Scripture.
8. Students will know and be able to defend what they believe. We want every student to know what they believe and why they believe it. We also want students to be able to defend their beliefs.
9. Students will lead one person to Christ. Students should develop a heart for the lost. Students will first need to know how to share their faith and how to share their testimony. Then they must be actively sharing Christ with those around them.
10. Students will be on mission. We want every student to participate in mission trips local, national and world-wide. We also want students to identify and seize mission opportunities around them everyday.
