A Battle for Our Teens

I have recently been reminded that we are in a war.  This is a war for our sons, our daughters, our teenagers and our enemy isn't holding back any punches.

There are days that I truly question my calling.  There are days that I wondering if I am doing what God wants me to do and be where I am.  I am sure that as parents of teenagers most of you ask the same question that I ask on those days, "Am I making a difference?"  On those days I get a little depressed and up watching my favorite type of movies:  war movies.  As I watch Band of Brothers or We Were Soldiers or whatever I am reminded that we are in a war.  Soldiers can do everything right and still end up with casualties.  As parents and youth workers we can do everything right and yet there will still be casualties.  A son or daughter into drugs.  A son arrested.  A daughter pregnant.  These realities remind me that we are in a war and we cannot afford to ever let our guard down.

As soldier we do have one powerful weapon in the fight for our children; that weapon is prayer.  We fight our battle on our knees, crying out on behalf of our children.  I want to encourage you to be in prayer for your son and daughter.  Pray for their salvation.  Pray for them to make wise, Godly decisions.  Pray for them to flee from evil.

The parent blog is my place to give you as parents resources and information to help you raise your teens.  This is a bi-monthly blog that is updated on the 1st and 15th of each month.  I hope and encourage you to check it out each week as I share my heart and share resources with you.
